Family Design Resources, Inc. (FDR) is seeking qualified individuals interested in becoming leaders and facilitators for the Practice Self-Regulation™ (PS-R™) model, a trauma-informed adolescent sexual health curriculum for at-risk youth, including youth in out-of-home care. Leaders, upon training and certification in the model, will train and certify program facilitators throughout the Commonwealth.
The four-day PS-R™ Training of Leaders (TOL) will be offered October 9-12, 2018 in Harrisburg. The training will be conducted by Joann Schladale, MS, LMFT, the program creator, and Adrienne Miller, MAT, FDR program specialist and certified PS-R™ facilitator. The class is open to 12 regionally based leaders who meet the leader qualifications and program requirements on a first come, first selected basis. Interested parties must meet the qualifications and requirements of PS-R™ leaders and facilitators. The cost to attend the PS-R™ TOL is $500, which includes a starter kit valued at $250.
Following the TOL, PS-R™ leaders are required to provide the three-day PS-R™ facilitator training three times per year in the first year for compensation. Leaders may train facilitators within their agencies at no cost.
PS-R™ has been implemented nationally and is in the process of becoming federally approved as evidence-based. The model provides for ten weeks of one-on-one sessions with youth that include neuroscience-based activities and a self-reflective workbook completed by youth between sessions. FDR has piloted the program with youth from Fayette and Lancaster Counties with positive outcomes.
